Call Menu Restrictions

You can limit which menu options a TeleTime IP user can access when dialed into the TeleTime IP server based on the time of day and day of week. For example, you might want to prevent users from performing inquiry functions during shift changes, when many users are punching in and out. Inquiry functions use up substantial system resources and could slow the system down during shift changes.

For example, the shifts at Memorial General Hospital change at 7:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 11:00 PM. Staff members are required to record time stamps at the beginning and end of each shift. To make sure people can get through to TeleTime IP during shift changes, the administrator sets up time access restrictions on the user profiles to “Block Inquiries" and "Block All Other" so that only transactions are allowed from 6:45 AM to 7:15 AM, 2:45 PM to 3:15 PM, and 10:45 PM to 11:15 PM. No one can use inquiries or other options during these periods.

Once TeleTime IP determines which menu options the caller can access, it checks the call menu restrictions settings in the user profile to find out if there are time restrictions for any of the allowed menu options.

You can deny access to the following categories of menu options:

  • Transactions
  • Inquiries
  • All other options

By default, users can access the menu options listed in their profiles, unless you set up call menu restrictions.

Add, edit, duplicate, and delete call menu restrictions

You can configure TeleTime IP call menu restrictions in the following ways:

  • Click Tap New to create a new call menu restriction.
  • Select an existing call menu restriction and click tap Duplicate to copy it.
  • Select an existing call menu restriction and click tap Edit to modify it. (You can also edit a call menu restriction by clicking tapping its name in the grid.)
  • Delete an existing call menu restriction by selecting it and clicking tapping Delete .

Use the following information to create and manage call menu restrictions. Items marked by an asterisk (*) are required; all others are optional.

To create a TeleTime IP call menu restrictions list, navigate to Configuration > TeleTime IP from the UDM main menu. Click Tap View and then select TeleTime IP Configuration. Click Tap Call Menu Restrictions.

Name*

Unique name of the call menu restriction. It can contain up to 50 characters. Special characters are not allowed.

Description

Description of the call menu restriction. It can contain up to 250 characters. Special characters are not allowed.

Set up TeleTime IP call menu restrictions.

The editor allows you to specify multiple restrictions by Day, Start Time and End time.

Click Tap Insert Row to create a new call restriction row. Click Tap Remove Row to delete a call restriction row.

New rows are added beneath the row on which the insert row button was selected and default to the currently selected day of that row. If the user deletes the last row in the table, it is replaced with a new default row.

Any time period not covered by a restriction will have all menu options available, as specified in the assigned call menu in the TeleTime IP user profile.

There must be at least one restriction specified in a set and the start time must be before the end time. Restrictions within a set must not overlap with one another. For instance, if restriction A is on Monday starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 9:30 AM then restriction B could start on Monday at 9:30 AM, but not at 9:29 AM.

Each restriction must specify one or more of three categories of menu options to block during that time period. The menu options in each tab correspond to the options listed in the tabs of the call menu editor as follows:

For example if a restriction is assigned to block the Inquiries category for a period of time, then, if a user calls into the system during that time she or he would not hear the menu options associated with those tabs on the voice menu.

Note: If a menu option on a tab is not selected within a particular call menu then a restriction will have no effect on it. It will never be heard on the voice menu no matter if a restriction is defined or not.

Click Tap Save to save the call menu restriction or click tap Cancel to dispose of your edits and exit. Assign the call menu restrictions to one or TeleTime IP user profiles.

Filter the profile list

You can filter the items in the grid by clicking tapping Filter and entering a full or partial search string in the empty cells immediately beneath the column headings.
