Actions

Initiate actions on one or more devices or device groups from the Dashboard or on an individual device from the Device Details page. To do so:

  1. Navigate to the Devices or Groups view in the Dashboard and select one or more devices or device groups, or navigate to the Device Details page of an individual device.
  2. From the Actions drop-down select one of the following. (Note that the available actions depend on the type of device(s) that are selected.) For some selections, a pop-up window or new workspace displays items that must be completed before the menu item that you selected can be processed.
    • Initialize. Sends the device configuration data selected in the Download Options template in the device's profile to one or more specified devices or device groups.
    • Update Device. Sends employee data selected in the Download Options template in the device's profile to one or more specified devices or device groups.
    • Start Data Collection. Starts automatic data collection for one or more specified devices or device groups. This action resets the collection method on the device to automatic data collection. To perform a Start Data Collection action, the tnt.device.global.dataCollection.enabled tenant property must be selected.
    • Stop Data Collection. Stops automatic data collection for one or more specified devices or device groups.
    • Collect. Starts a one-time data collection from one or more specified devices. To perform a Collect action, the tnt.device.global.dataCollection.enabled tenant property must be selected.
    • Load Firmware. Download firmware stored in the database to one or more specified devices or device groups.
    • Load Parameter File. Download an XML parameter file stored in the database to one or more specified devices or device groups.
    • Set Ignored On. Sets the status of one or more selected devices or device groups to Ignored. Alerts are disabled for a device that is in the Ignored state. However, because Universal Device Manager communication to and from the device continues, users can still manually perform actions on the device.
    • Set Ignored Off. Removes one or more selected devices from the Ignored state.
    • Enable Device Communication. Enables one or more selected devices or device groups to communicate with the server.
    • Disable Device Communication. Disables one or more selected devices or device groups from communicating with the server.
    • Assign Groups. Assigns one or more specified devices to the selected device groups.
    • Assign Tags. Assigns one or more specified devices to the selected tags.
    • Assign Events. Assign an event.
