Load Firmware

Use Load Firmware on the Actions menu of the Dashboard or the Device Details page to download firmware stored in the database to one or more specified devices or device groups. You can also schedule load firmware events using Event Manager.

Note: Firmware files for devices must be imported into the database before they can be downloaded to devices.

To load firmware to one or more devices:

  1. Navigate to the device or device groups workspace in the Dashboard and select one or more devices or device groups, or to the Device Details page of an individual device.
  2. Select Actions > Load Firmware.
  3. In the Action Options window, select Latest Firmware from the Firmware File drop-down list to load the latest firmware, or select a specific firmware file to load that firmware version, then click tap OK. The 4500 supports .kru, .krm, and .krl file types. The InTouch supports .krx file types. The InTouch DX supports .krs file types. If no firmware files have been imported, the drop-down list is empty.
Note: The Latest Firmware option tells UDM to load the latest available firmware for the selected Device type. The latest firmware is systematically placed in Manage Imports > Firmware > Global tab.
  4. Leave the Initialize Device with Download Option check box checked (default) to Auto-Initialize devices after loading firmware. Auto-Initialize will use the Download Options configured in the Device Profile to determine which options to download. Auto-Initialize will always download Device Configuration even when it is not selected in the Device Profile under Download Options. Deselecting the check box will require devices to be initialized manually.
  5. If the firmware update includes InTouch DX G2 devices, you may optionally enable the Perform automatic multi-step upgrade when required check box. If the update involves a multi-step update (for example, from version 3.4.3 to 4.0.0 and then to 4.4.1 or later), the setting automatically performs the entire operation. If the firmware update includes InTouch DX G2 devices and the setting is not enabled, the firmware update will fail for the DX G2 devices if the update involves a multi-step operation.
Note: A Load Firmware action that is performed on a device is automatically preceded by a Test Device action.
