Configure Custom Metrics for Healthcare Productivity
You can create an unlimited number of custom metrics or key performance indicators (KPI) for Healthcare Productivity for display in the Daily Productivity tile or in Healthcare Productivity reports.
To create a custom metric or KPI you must first determine what it is you want to measure. KPI Builder supports three types of measuring units: hours, cost, and count.
Limitations
A custom metric or KPI can contain custom and standard metrics, or custom and standard KPIs. However, note the following limitations:
- Custom metrics can include both Analytics and Healthcare Productivity categories of metrics and KPIs, but custom KPIs cannot include both categories.
- The formula cannot contain both Daily Productivity and Pay Period Productivity data sources, metrics, or KPIs.
- A standard KPI cannot contain metrics or KPIs from the Healthcare Productivity category.
- The formula cannot contain a KPI from the Analytics category.
- The formula cannot contain KPIs that nest other KPIs.
- The data source of a metric cannot be updated.
- Historical Load is available only for metrics that have a Daily data source.
Create or edit custom metrics
- Before you start, Configure Access to Healthcare Productivity.
- Select Main Menu
. - (Optional) Click Tap Load All.Note: Historical load is not available for Healthcare Productivity metrics and data sources.
- Create or edit a custom metric as follows:
- Create: Click Tap Create
and enter a Name. - Edit: Select a custom metric. Click Tap Edit
. In Save Changes to, select one of the following:
- Save changes everywhere that the named entity is used— Save the changes to all current versions of this custom metric.
- Save as a new named entity— Save the changes as a new custom metric.
- Deactivate: Select an activated custom metric. Click Tap Disable
. Click Tap Yes to confirm. - Activate: Select a deactivated custom metric. Click Tap Enable
. Click Tap Yes to confirm.
- Create: Click Tap Create
- Enter a Description.
- Enter a Short Name that the KPI formula uses.
- Maximum of 15 characters.
- The underscore (
_
) is the only supported special character.
- In Category, select Healthcare Productivity.Caution: For custom metrics, you can select both Analytics and Healthcare Productivity to access other data sources. However for custom KPIs, you cannot select both.
- Select a Data Source.
- The Mapping Category table lists all mapping categories that are configured for the selected data source.
- (Optional) To filter this list, click tap Filter
and enter a search string in the empty cells immediately beneath the column headings. - (Optional) You can condense the table by removing any unpinned columns (columns with a blue heading). Click Tap Column Selection and select or deselect the appropriate columns.
- Highlight the mapping categories to add to the metric and click tap Assign
. - To remove mapping categories from the metric, highlight the mapping categories and click tap Un-assign
. - Select a mapping category from the table.
- Select the Display Format:
NUMBER
PERCENTAGE
CURRENCY
DURATION— Displays the metric in minutes or decimal format based on the configured duration display setting.
- Clear Apply Wages Function Access Control Point to override the Wages function access control point and enable managers who run dataviews, reports, or tiles that show wage information, to view that wage information.
- Dependent KPIs
- Select the Precision.
- (Optional) To filter this list, click tap Filter
- Click Tap Save. Note: You can use the custom metric in KPI formulas; see the Create a custom KPI topic.
