Accounts and Environments

How to configure accounts and environments for access to integrations.

Access to Integration Designer (the Boomi application) and Integrations Setup is controlled by accounts, roles, and environments:

  • Account: Access to features and resources is enabled by account, not by user.
  • Account Group: Use account groups to manage large numbers of accounts and distribute access rights, to manage partner accounts along with customer accounts, or to create an account group for each systems integrator and assign the appropriate accounts.
  • Role: Assign roles to users so that each person can perform different roles within an account group. A person can have multiple roles within an account group, or can be a member of multiple account groups and be assigned a different role in each group.
  • Sub-Account: The Partner API and connector can provision customers or the partner as sub-accounts of the partner account.
  • Environment: An environment is a dedicated deployment of atoms for different phases of the development life cycle. You can attach multiple atoms to an environment, or attach multiple environments to multiple processes.

    Examples:

    • Protect PROD (Production) environments from changes or processes on Development, Sandbox, TEST, or Stage environments.
    • Classify on-premise resources to ensure data integrity and prevent documents from going to the wrong destination.
    • Manage and isolate client-specific projects.
