Run Workforce Planner Integrations

Run, set parameter values, and check the status of these integrations.

Run integrations to test that the configuration is set up correctly.

Test the integrations

Export integrations

Run each of the Business Structure Export, Skills and Certifications Export, and People Export integrations from Dimensions as follows:

    1. Select the integration:
      1. Select Main Menu Maintenance > Integrations.
      2. Click Tap Run an Integration .
      3. Select the integration from the list. Click Tap Select.
      4. (Optional) Enter a unique Integration Run Name to make it easier to identify the run of the integration. Otherwise, the default name ends with a date and time stamp.
    2. Set parameters — Select or enter any parameters or files that are required. Required and optional parameters, and external files vary by integration.
    3. Select the following:
      • Run Integration : If this is the first time this integration is being run.
      • Re-Run: If this integration has been run before, and the status is not In-Progress, you can run the integration again without entering the parameter values again. Click Tap Yes to continue, or No to not run the integration and to return to the parameter settings.
    4. Wait for the confirmation that the integration completed or failed. Close the panel.
    5. Click Tap Refresh .
    6. To see details, select the integration run. Select Run Summary.
  1. Schedule import integrations
    Note: The Schedule Import integration does not run from Task Manager; it runs automatically as a result of a schedule transaction that occurs in Workforce Planner.

    Run the Schedule Batch Import integration from Workforce Planner Task Manager; for instructions, refer to the Workforce Planner System Area Guide.

    1. Log in to Workforce Planner with the initial tsadmin or a similar user account that is active at all times; otherwise the tasks will not run.
    2. Select Setup > System > Task Manager.
    3. Select Schedule Batch Import to Workforce Dimensions.
    4. Click Run Now.

Check the results

Business Structure Export

    1. Log in to Workforce Planner with the tsadmin or a similar user account.
    2. Select Setup > Organization.
    3. Check that the organization structure is updated.
  1. Skills and Certifications Export
    1. Log in to Workforce Planner with the tsadmin or a similar user account.
    2. Select Setup > General > Specialty.
    3. Check that the skills and certifications were imported to Workforce Planner.
  2. People Export
    1. Log in to Workforce Planner with a manager user account.
    2. Select People.
    3. Check that the people records were imported to Workforce Planner.

Schedule Imports

Once configured, the Schedule Import integration automatically updates schedules in Dimensions in response to actions such as by adding assignments to staff, filling vacancies, and adding time off. Check that these updates occur.

Run integrations during production

During day-to-day operations, run the integrations in the following order.

  1. Note:
    • You can group and sequence integrations in integration sets. See the Configure Integration Sets topic.

    • You can schedule integrations and integration sets to run once later or at a recurring frequency. See the Schedule Integrations topic.

    From Dimensions:
    1. Business Structure Export: Import locations, and generic and assigned jobs to Workforce Planner.
    2. Skills and Certifications Export: Import skills and certifications definitions to Workforce Planner.
    3. People Export: Import person information of employees that is related to scheduling to Workforce Planner.
  2. From Workforce Planner:
    1. Schedule Batch Import: Periodically synchronize schedules over a range of days and groups between the systems.
    2. Schedule Import: Regularly update working time (shifts) and non-working time (time off) to synchronize systems for timecard and accruals balances.
