Configure On-Call on Shifts

You can include work rule transfers on shifts where the specified work rule has an associated Call-in rule. To enable using on-call on shifts, complete the following steps.

Step 1: Create Call-In Rules

Call-In rules specify how employees are compensated when they are on call, called back to work, or both. When configuring call-ins, the following distinction is important:

  • On-call (also known as standby) — The time when employees are at home and are being paid.
  • Call-back (also known as call-ins) — The time when an employee works while being on call.
  1. From the Main Menu, go to Administration> Application Setup> Pay Policies > Work Rule Building Blocks > Call-Ins.
  2. Create one or more Call-In rules. For more information, see Call-ins.
  3. Click Save & Return.

Step 2: Create Work Rules

Work rules are combinations of work rule building blocks that apply specific pay rules to shifts. These rules determine how employee hours accrue.

  1. From the Main Menu, go to Administration> Application Setup> Pay Policies > Work Rules.
  2. Create a work rule. For more information, see Work Rules.
  3. In Call-In, select a Call-in rule to associate with this work rule.
  4. Click Save & Return.

Step 3: Add Work Rules to Display Access Profiles

Work Rule data access profiles specify the work rules that users can access. For more information, see Work Rules data access profiles.

  1. From the Main Menu, go to Administration > Application Setup > Access Profiles > Data Access Profiles > Work Rules.
  2. In the Work Rule Data Access Profiles workspace, click New or select a work rule data access profile and click Edit.
  3. Select the work rule you created in Step 2 from the Available Work Rule box and move it to the Selected Work Rule box.
  4. Click Save & Return.
