Transaction Settings

The Transaction Settings template specifies a range of items that control transactions at a device. For example, transaction settings can be used to allow or disallow transactions from non-home employees, restrict the interval between an employee's punches, enable biometric validation, and allow or disallow the keying in using a badge ID.

The template provides a single tab: Transaction Configuration.

Configure the fields in this tab as described below. Required fields are marked by an asterisk (*)

Note: Transaction Settings for the InTouch DX vary depending on the type of profile being configured (Community or Individual). See below for details.

Transaction Configuration

Enable punch status display

If selected, the device displays the status of each punch. The setting is not selected by default.

Scan interval for reviewing punches

Set the interval for the number of hours that certain soft key functions look into the past for data. Setting the interval properly helps to avoid the use of older, obsolete data. Valid settings are 0–72 hours. The default value is 12.

Enable Online Transactions

Allows punches to be processed online as opposed to being stored in the clock. Note: This option is only supported by the DX device.

Enable schedule enforcement

If selected (the default), home employees’ punches are based on their schedules. (Schedules are defined in the host application.) If not selected, home employees can punch at any time. If you use schedule enforcement, you must download employee schedules.

Allow negative tips

Specifies whether the device allows employees to enter negative decimal tips.

Missed Out Punch Limit

Select one of the following:

  • Per punch interpretation — Calculates a missed out-punch limit as the sum of an employee’s scheduled start time, the missed out-punch limit in the punch interpretation rule, and half of the shift length.
  • Per scheduled shift (the default) — Calculates a missed out-punch limit as the sum of an employee’s scheduled start time and the greater of either the missed out-punch limit in the punch interpretation rule, or the shift length.

Allow attestation for home employees only

Restricts attestation transactions on this device to home employees only.

Restrict home employee punch interval

Enter the minimum length of time (in minutes) between two punches by the same employee. Valid values are 0–99 minutes. The default value is 0 (that is, 0 –59 seconds).

Note: The actual interval before a repunch is allowed can vary from 1–59 seconds, depending on when the original punch was made. For example, if you enter an interval of 1 minute, employees must wait 60–119 seconds before doing a repunch.

Allow non-home employees

Allows employees who are not assigned to a device to punch at that device. When non-home employees punch, the device displays the employee badge number.

Enable biometric verification

Requires non-home employees to verify transactions using a badge swipe or keyed-in badge numbers using a biometric finger scan.

If you select both, enter the minimum length of time (in minutes) between two punches by the same employee in the Restrict non-home employee punch interval box. Valid values are 0–99 minutes. The default value is 0 (that is, 0–59 seconds).

Note: The actual interval before a repunch is allowed can vary from 1–59 seconds, depending on when the original punch was made. For example, if you enter an interval of 1 minute, employees must wait 60–119 seconds before doing a repunch.

Allow keying in badge ID

Allows employees to enter a badge ID using the keypad instead of swiping a badge. If this parameter is not selected, the device accepts only badge swipes as valid punches.

Forcing an employee to swipe a badge provides some protection against “buddy punching.” For increased protection against one employee punching in for another, consider using biometric validation.

Mask badge ID during entry and display

Prevents the device screen from displaying badge IDs when employees enter or display information.

Employee badge display style

Select Display employee name or Display badge ID to specify the display of employee information related to a transaction.

In the Number of badge ID digits to display (Rightmost) box, enter employee identification number length (1–18 characters, 1–20 characters for ). The default value is 9.

Note: In the People information Maintenance panel, the maximum length of an employee badge ID is 50 digits. However, if you are using standard badges at a device, the limit is 18 digits. No information is downloaded to the device if the badge ID exceeds 18 digits. Other formats may have different length limits. Check the vendor’s documentation.

Manager

Select one of the following:

  • Use supervisor badge (the default) — Requires supervisors or managers to use a supervisor badge to complete transactions.
  • Use manager badge ID —Identifies home employees as managers, based on their badge IDs and their license levels in the suite application.

If you select Use manager badge ID, select one of the following from the After entering badge ID drop-down list:

  • Log into manager mode — A manager badge swipe on the home page of the device results in the Manager Log On transaction. If managers need to access the default transaction, configure a soft key for the default transaction.
  • Perform default employee transaction — A manager badge swipe on the home page of the device results in the default transaction. If managers need to access Manager mode at the device, configure a soft key for Manager Log On.

Password

Enter 1–6 numbers as the device password for managers.

Allow manager to use keypad to enter employee badge ID

Allows managers to enter employee badge IDs, without using their badges, to make edits or overrides.

Enable employee message notification

If selected, Smart Landing will be enabled and employees will receive their most recent message notifications on their home screen. This setting is disabled by default.

Once enabled, notifications can be dismissed by swiping in any direction, be marked as read by selecting Close, or be selected for the user to read more information. Up to five notifications can be displayed, and the fifth notification indicates that there are additional unread messages in the Message Center. Selecting the fifth notification takes the user the Message Center homepage.

Enable employee message notification

Allows employees to be notified of pending messages in the Control Center when they enter a punch at a device.
