Kiosk Instances

The Kiosk Instances building block is used to define the characteristics of each individual kiosk instance that can be started from a device.

Administrators and managers with the proper permissions can access this building block by navigating to Administration > Common Setup > Kiosk Instances.

The Kiosk Instances page contains a list of defined kiosk instances with the following column details:

  • Name- The name of the instance.

  • Description- A description of the instance.

  • Active- Indicates if the instance is currently active.

  • Known Place- Displays the associated known place, if assigned.

  • Kiosk Configuration- Displays the associated kiosk configuration.

  • Hyperfind- Displays the hyperfind that has been specified as the default for the instance. For more information on associating hyperfinds with kiosk instances, see Hyperfind considerations.

  • Manager- Displays the manager for the instance.

  • Locations- Displays the locations that have been designated for use of the instance.

Use the Kiosk Instances page to:

Create a new Kiosk Instance

To create a new Kiosk Instance:

  1. Click Create. The Create Kiosk Instance page opens:

    1. Enter a Name for the instance.

    2. Enter a Description for the instance.

    3. To designate the instance as active, click the Activate Instance check box.

    4. Select a Known Place from the list to associate with the instance.

    5. Select a Kiosk Configuration from the list to associate with the instance.

    6. Select a Hyperfind to define who can use this instance in the system. For more information, see Hyperfind considerations.

      Note: If the Hyperfind field is undefined, anyone will be able to use the instance.
    7. Select a Manager from the list to designate as the owner of this instance.

    8. Select Locations where this instance will be included in the list of available instances.

  2. Click Save to save the new instance.

Hyperfind considerations

  • Hyperfind is not a required field.

  • The number of employees included in the selected hyperfind must not exceed the limit for use with a kiosk instance .

    Warning: Large hyperfinds, such as All Home, will return an error when the number of employees included in the hyperfind exceeds the limit for use with a kiosk instance.
  • In the Manager field, select a manager with access to the limited number of employees included in the selected hyperfind.

Edit an existing Kiosk Instance

To edit an existing Kiosk Instance:

  1. Select the desired Kiosk Instance page and click Edit. The Edit Kiosk Instance page opens.

  2. Make the desired changes to the available fields.

  3. Click Save to save the new instance.

Stop an active Kiosk Instance

To stop an active kiosk, select a that is currently marked active in the Active column and click Stop.

Delete an existing Kiosk Instance

To delete an existing Kiosk Instance, select the desired instance and click Delete.
