Half Day Shift Boundaries

Half day shift boundaries tell the system how to separate a shift into two parts: the first half and the second half. The parts can be any fraction of the shift length, not only exact halves.

The system uses the segment type and position to define the anchor shift segment.

  1. Click Tap Main Menu > Administration > Application Setup > Employee Self Service > First and Second Half Day > Half Day Shift Boundaries.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click Tap New. Enter a Name .
    • Select the boundaries. Click Tap Edit or Duplicate.
    • Select the boundaries. You cannot delete boundaries that are being used. Click Tap Delete. Click Tap Yes to confirm.
  3. (Optional) Enter a Description.
  4. Define the start of the half day:
    1. Anchor Segment — Select the type of shift segment that anchors the half day:Any (default) — Ignore the type of segment and consider only the position of the segment.

      Regular

      Break

      Transfer

    2. Anchor Segment Position — Select the position of the segment in the shift.
    3. Select one of the following:Position Relative to Start of Anchor Segment (default)

Position Relative to End of Anchor Segment

    4. Use Offset (Optional) — Select to offset the half day from the anchor segment position. The offset is after the start or before the end of the anchor segment.
    5. Select one of the following:Fixed Offset: Enter a time value from 00:00—24:00.

Percentage of Total Shift Length: Enter a percentage from 1—100.

Select Add Extra Minute to add any rounded seconds as a minute to this half day. Shift durations do not include seconds, so if 50% of a 7 hour 45 minute shift is 3:52:30, one half is 3:53 long, the other is 3:52 long depending on which half adds the extra minute. Add an extra minute only to either the start or end of the half day but not to both.

    6. Repeat for the end of the half day.
  5. Repeat for the second half of the day.
  6. Click Tap Save & Return.
