Employee Group
An employee group defines the employees that are eligible to work for a manager.
Employee groups include all home employees of the manager (employees whose primary job is in the specified organizational set) and all employees who are eligible to transfer (employees that can work a job in the specified organizational set).
An Organizational Set must be selected when creating an employee group to define the employees that are included in the group. In addition, you can optionally use labor category profiles, cost centers, and Home Employees Hyperfinds to further define the criteria required for an employee to be included in an employee group. For information on creating an organizational set, see Organizational sets.
Employee groups and labor category profiles
You can limit the employees included in an employee group by assigning a labor category profile. When you assign a labor category profile to an employee group, for each labor category list contained in the labor category profile, the employee's default labor categories must match a value in the list to be included in the employee group
Employee groups and cost centers
If a cost center is specified for an employee group but a labor category profile is not, then an employee must be within the organizational set and the cost center of their primary job must match the specified cost center for the employee to be included in the group.
If a cost center and a labor category profile are both specified for the employee group, then:
- An employee must have a transfer job within the organizational set and the cost center of that job must match the cost center pattern
or
- An employee must have a transfer job within the organizational set and for each labor category list contained in the employee group's labor category profile, there must be a matching labor category entry in the employee's labor categories profile.
Employee groups and Home Employees Hyperfinds
You can define additional criteria to identify the home employees for an employee group by creating a Home Employees Hyperfind and then assigning that Hyperfind to the manager in People Information. For details on creating a Home Employees Hyperfind, see Hyperfinds. To assign the Home Employees Hyperfind to a manager, see Assign an employee group and Home Employees Hyperfind to a manager.
