Key features of SDM

SDM enables you to do the following:

  • Copy Setup Data from one tenant to another tenant in the same customer environment. For example, use SDM to copy setup data that has been created and tested on a test or development tenant to a production tenant.
  • Export Setup Data from the Target to a zip file to store as backup on a non-production server.
  • Import a Configuration File into SDM by using the migration toolkit to export a zipped configuration file

For your convenience, the version numbers from both the source and target are displayed when you select items for data transfer.

Note: To keep you informed about the possibility of incomplete data transfer, some scenarios generate warnings that indicate when the data transfer only partially succeeded and that some items may be missing from the target. For more information, see Scenarios that could cause possible incomplete transfer of data.

Exit SDM

To exit SDM, close the tab in which it is open and return to the Home page to log out.
