Considerations

  • One instance per device is recommended when using kiosks.

  • Kiosk instances should not be run on multiple devices at the same time.

  • When a user starts a kiosk in a browser, the instance will remain valid until the "Kiosk Time Out" period has passed or another user starts or restores the same kiosk on a different browser. If a another user starts or restores the same kiosk in another browser, users attempting to access the original riosk will receive an authentication error.

Note: The "Kiosk Time Out" setting is defined on the Kiosk Configurations setup page. See Setup > Common Setup > Kiosk Configurations in the online help for more information, or use the search feature.
  • Kiosks can be used by start-stop employees, duration employees, attestation employees, and can optionally be configured for use by federated employees.

Caution: When creating kiosk configurations and kiosk instances, ederated instances must be assigned to locations that use the federation authentication type and non-federated instances must be assigned to locations that use the basic authentication type.
Note: If a federated kiosk administrator accidentally starts a non-federated kiosk instance, the instance can be stopped using the Kiosk Instances setup page. See Stop an active Kiosk Instance for more information.
