Compare target hours

Target Hours allows you to compare actual, projected, and target hours for employees whose work is based on employment terms.

If the system has employee group filtering enabled, the data shown is filtered by your employee group even when you have an entire location selected.

Note: Data is not displayed on the tab when more than 1000 employees are in the loaded schedule or when the loaded timeframe exceeds 90 days.

Specify the hours to include

  1. Select the Target Hours tab at the bottom of the schedule.
Note: To maximize the size of the Target Hours add-on, click tap Expand . To return the Target Hours add-on to the default size, click tap Collapse .
  2. To specify which employees to display, either select a specific set of Employment Terms or select All. The Employment Terms filter only includes employment terms that are assigned to the employees in the loaded schedule.
  3. To specify one or more reporting periods to include in the calculations, enter a loaded date in Periods That Include, or click tap the calendar to select a date. Target Hours includes hours in all reporting periods that overlap the specified dates, even if not all the dates are loaded in the main schedule grid.
  4. Click Apply.
Note: Target Hours do not update automatically. The date and time of the most recent update displays in Updated.

Adjust the display

When viewing the Target Hours tab, note the following:

  • You can adjust the column width by dragging the area between the column headings.
  • In the header at the top of each column, select to open a menu of sort commands.
  • Grab the line that separates the schedule from the add-on and drag it up or down to resize the add-on area.
  • Click X to close the add-on.

Understand target hours

  • Name — Employees who are assigned the employment terms
  • Assignment — For employees with multiple assignments, the employee's assignment for the selected employment terms is displayed.
Note: The Assignment column displays only if the Multiple Assignments feature is enabled on your system.

You can use this information to track assignment-specific target hours based on the selected employment terms to ensure that the employee is working the correct number of hours for each assignment.

You can track combined target hours amounts per employee. The target hours amount is the combined total of each of the employee's assignments, when the configuration is the following:

    • The Date Pattern configured in the Work Hours Definition used to determine the weekly hours target is shared between assignments.
    • The Overtime rule configured in the Work Hours Definition is in all the Work Rules that are used to pay the employee’s worked time across all their assignments.
  • Date Pattern Name — Defined by the Work Hours Definition in the employment terms
    Note:
    • If employment terms have multiple date patterns, the list repeats the employee row for each date pattern.
    • A date pattern does not have to start on the first day of the week.
  • Reporting Period — Range of dates as defined by the employment terms date patterns; overlaps the selected date

Example: A loaded period is from June 8 to 14, but the date pattern starts mid-week on June 11. The reporting period is from June 11 to 17. All amounts are correct from June 11 to 17, even if the loaded period excludes June 15 to 17.

  • Variance — Target amount minus Projected amount; can be negative or positive. Indicates a need to change the schedule if too far from zero.
  • Actual — Punched hours recorded during the reporting period, up to the present time
  • Projected — Sum of actual hours worked until yesterday plus scheduled hours for the reporting period
  • Target — Number of hours as defined by the employment terms
