Resolve auctions
Resolving an auction is the process of selecting auction item winners and awarding those items to the winners. The manager (or administrator) initiates the auction resolution process and the system determines the winners of each auction item based on the rules specified in the auction configuration (Bidder Priority and Maximum Win Properties).
The phases of auction resolution are:
- Resolve— Auction resolution occurs in turns. A turn selects a round of auction item winners. Auctions have multiple turns and for each turn, the rules for the auction are assessed and a group of winners is determined.
- Win— Auction item winners are identified. The system creates time-off requests for each won item and the time-off approval process proceeds.
-
Award— Employees are awarded items they won (if the approval process is successful). Items are added to their schedules and calendars.
Note: If the time-off approval process fails (for example, the employee does not have the required accrual balance for the requested time), then the bid item is not awarded to the employee. The item returns to the auction for other employees to bid on.
- Repeat— If necessary, continue auction resolution turns until all auction items are won, sold out, or all bidders have been awarded the maximum number of items they can win.
An auction is complete when the end date is in the past.
