Run reports from a Dataview or application page
You can run reports directly from the Report Library or you can select a subset of employees in a Dataview or application page and use the GoTo
- The following standard reports only pass the timeframe context from the original application. They do not pass the Hyperfind context:
- Location Schedule — Weekly
- Location Schedule Detail — Weekly
- The following standard reports do not pass any context (timeframe or Hyperfind) from the original application. You must set the context before you run the report:
- Audit Report
- People Audit Report
- Security Report
Custom employee reports use the Hyperfind and timeframe selectors and also support the passing of context.
Run large custom reports
When you run a large custom report directly from the Run Reports page (also called an ad hoc report), the system automatically sends ad hoc report requests to the more efficient scheduling engine based on a sizing algorithm.
The basics of the sizing algorithm are:
- Calculate the
size of a report by multiplying either:
- Employees * Days
- Employees * Locations (for example, business structure organizations and sub-organizations included in the report)
- Default system settings use the following threshold values for each sizing factors:
- 15 days
- 600 employees
- 1000 locations
By default, all custom reports use the sizing algorithm to determine whether an ad hoc report is executed by the ad hoc report engine or is sent to the scheduling engine due to its size. Standard reports do not use the sizing algorithm.
If the report is scheduled, the status on the Run Reports page is Submitted and the following message appears in the panel:
The report is listed in the Upcoming Reports section of the Report Library page as well as on the Reporting Jobs page. While the report is running, it is listed in the In Progress section of the Report Library page. When the report is completed, the user who submitted the report receives an email notification that the report is completed and is ready to be viewed. The email includes the report name, status, error details, job name, scheduling details, and run as well as a one-click navigation link to the completed report on the Report Library page.
