Manage Talk Ideabox Challenges

Ideabox is an app that lets employees contribute ideas about how to solve specific organizational challenges.

Content Admins can post a challenge and gather ideas and feedback from employees. Anyone can rate these ideas, add their comments (if enabled), and engage discussions. For example, add a challenge to seek ideas for an upcoming organization picnic or ask for questions to be discussed in an upcoming meeting.

View the number of ideas submitted by employees for a challenge. Edit and delete challenges. Publish challenges now and configure an end date to allow employees to respond within a certain time period.

Note the following guidelines:

  • Challenges are automatically created with a Share your idea link that employees use to respond with ideas.
  • When a challenge expires, view all the responses and declare the top three winning ideas with gold, silver, and bronze ribbons.
  • You add and manage challenges from the Content > Ideabox page of the Talk Admin Dashboard and the Apps page of the Talk desktop.
  • From the Talk desktop, you can pin Ideabox posts to the top of the feed (What's happening) to ensure users see and react to the challenge.
  • The Ideabox app must be deployed before you can add challenges.

To create a challenge

You create challenges in the Talk Admin dashboard or the Talk desktop.

Note: You can also create an Ideabox post in the Talk desktop and add it to the feed.

Create a challenge in the Talk Admin Dashboard

  1. Go to the Content page and click Ideabox. The Ideabox panel shows a list of all active and expired challenges.
  2. Click Create Challenge.
  3. To include an image with the challenge, click Add Image.
  4. Enter a challenge Title and Description. A preview of the challenge displays on the right of the page.
  5. Click the End Date field and select the date you want the challenge to expire.
  6. For Target, select one of the following:
    • To Everyone (the default)
    • To Groups. Click the drop-down list and select one or more groups you want to access the challenge.
  7. (Optional) To include one or more attachments, click Add.
  8. (Optional) Select Disable comments for this post.
  9. Click Publish. The post will be available until the scheduled end date.

Create a challenge in the Talk desktop

  1. Click the Apps tab.
  2. Click Ideabox.
  3. Click the plus (+) at the top-right. The Create Challenge view opens.
  4. To include an image with the challenge, click Upload.
  5. Enter a challenge Title and Description.
  6. Click the End Date field and select the date you want the challenge to expire.
  7. (Optional) To include one or more attachments, click Add.
  8. (Optional) Select Disable comments for this post.
  9. Click Select Recipient and select one of the following:
    • Everyone
    • One or more groups you want to access the challenge.
  10. Click Post Challenge. The post will be available until the scheduled end date.

To edit and delete a challenge

In the Talk Admin Dashboard you edit and delete challenges.

  1. Go to the Content page and click Ideabox. The Ideabox panel shows a list of all challenges, both active and expired.
  2. Click Edit for the challenge you want to edit or delete.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Update the challenge details as needed and click Save.
    • To remove the challenge, click Delete.

To declare winning ideas

When all ideas have been submitted for the challenge, you can grant three winners from the Talk Admin dashboard.

  1. Go to the Content page and click Ideabox. The Ideabox panel shows a list of all challenges, both active and expired.
  2. Select the challenge. A list of all the submitted ideas for the challenge displays.
  3. Click Select Winner.
  4. For each winning idea, click the Choose drop-down list and select 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbons.
  5. Click Declare.
