Additional information

The Business Structure is the place that defines the hierarchy of locations where employees perform work (such as State, Department, and Job). Labor Category entries capture data that is not part of the hierarchical structure — typically whatis worked on.

For example, consider the following four Labor Categories as defined to describe work that was performed or scheduled:

Labor Category 1: Crew – Team 1, Team 2, Team 3

Labor Category 2: Route – Northeast, Southwest, City Center

Labor Category 3: Shift – Days, Afternoons, Nights

Labor Category 4: Vehicle – P-203, M-111, V-125

To identify which shift a particular employee worked or was scheduled for, you would look at data related to Labor Category 3.
