Open multiple components in separate tabs or windows

Using the capabilities of your browser, you can access multiple components in separate tabs or windows. For example, you can open the Schedule Planner and Employee Timecards pages in separate tabs within the same browser window or you can open them in separate windows.

For example, to do this in Chrome, right-click a component from the Main Menu and select Open Link in New Tab, then right-click another component from the Main Menu and select Open Link in New tab, and so forth. The browser-specific limitations determine the number of tabs or windows that you can open.

Depending on the selected context (timeframe and Hyperfind), the behavior of each new tab or window is as follows.

Usage

Behavior

To open multiple pages from a page that has no context (Home, for example):

  1. Right-click a component from the Main Menu and select Open in a new tab or Open in a new window.
  2. To open additional pages, right-click a component from the Main Menu and select Open in a new tab or Open in a new window.
  3. Continue opening the pages that you need to work with simultaneously.

Every page that opens in a new tab or a new window loads in its default context.

To open multiple pages from a page that has a specified, non-default, context:

  1. Open a component from the Main Menu. For example, select Schedule > Current Schedule.
  2. Change the context in the schedule by selecting a different timeframe or location.
  3. Right-click the browser tab and select Duplicate or copy the URL and paste it in the address bar of a new tab (or window) .

Every page that opens in a new tab or a new window always opens in its default context. It does not preserve the context of the page that triggered it.

To synchronize saved changes among different opened pages:

  1. Open multiple pages in separate tabs or windows, for example, open the Schedule and an employee timecard.
  2. Make sure that the opened pages are using same timeframe and employee contexts. This needs to be done on each page separately.
  3. Make a change to the schedule of a specific employee.
  4. Save the changes.

When you change a page that could impact the information on other opened pages, the information does not update automatically.

  • If you click tap Refresh from the action bar, the information is updated with the selected context.
  • If you click the browser's Refresh button, the entire page is refreshed to the default context. The specified context is not preserved.
