Shift Guarantees
Shift guarantees are amounts of time that employees earn even if they work less time. When employees work during shifts that contain a guaranteed amount, they earn at least the minimum amount of time specified by the guarantee. If they work more than the guarantee, they accrue the amount of time actually worked.
Use the Shift Guarantees page (Administration > Application Setup > Pay Policies > Work Rule Building Blocks > Shift Guarantees) and the following information to set up shift guarantees.
- Name — Enter or edit a name.
- Days of the week — The length of the guaranteed shift for each day of the week. For example, a guaranteed shift of four hours is 4:00.
- Reduce by amount late — Reduce the guaranteed amount by the amount of time that employees are late for that scheduled shift. - Make-up Work Rule — A work rule that accounts for the difference between the amount of time employees actually work and the amount of time accrued because of shift guarantees.
- For example, employees are guaranteed two hours, but work 30 minutes. Select a work rule that pays employees time and a half for the 30 minutes and the regular base wage for the remaining time.
- The default, <None>, indicates that this unworked time is not tracked.
- Minimum worked hours to qualify — The minimum number of hours an employee must work before the shift guarantee is triggered. This value must be less than the value set for the length of the guaranteed shift.
