Talk Groups

Groups are a way to help Talk users collaborate more efficiently. They are used to organize Talk chat and feed content and activities. You may belong to groups based on your location, store, and job type. Groups can also be for shared interests outside of your job, like reading or mountain climbing.

Go to the Groups tab to see all the groups you are a member of, plus all other open and closed groups. You can search for a specific group, join open groups, and request to join a closed group. Private groups are hidden until an admin adds you to join the group. You can exit any group you join.

There are two types of groups:

  • Chat. In this instant messaging group, you send text and multimedia messages.
  • Feed. In this post-specific group, participate in threaded discussions with likes and comments.

There are three levels of group access:

  • Open. The group is visible to all employees, and any employee can join.
  • Closed. The group is visible to all employees but requires admin approval to join.
  • Private. The group is hidden and requires an invite from the admin to join.

Note: You cannot see a private group until an admin adds you.

  1. Go to the Groups tab.
  2. Enter the name of the group in the Search Group List field (for Feed groups) or the Search in Chat field (for Chat groups).
  1. Tap Groups > Feed.
  2. Tap the plus (+) at the bottom.
  3. Search the group list, then tap Join for open groups or Request Invite for closed groups.
  1. Click Groups.
  2. From Search Group List, find the group and click Join (for open groups) or Request Invite (for closed groups).
  1. Tap Chat > Join Group Chat.
  2. Scroll through the list of available chat groups and tap Join.
  1. Click Groups.

  2. From the Chat group list (on the right), click Join Group.

  3. From Search Group List, find the group and click Join (for open groups) or Request Invite (for closed groups).

Each Feed group has its own feed. When you are a member of a Feed group, you can view posts published on the group feed and add your own post.

  1. Click Tap the Groups tab.
  2. Click Tap the Feed group in which you want to publish your post.
  3. Click Tap the plus (+) at the bottom of the flow, create your post, and then click tap Post.

All Chat groups have their own chat window. As a group member:

  • You can see group chats and send messages to a group on its chat.
  • @mention people.
  • Search text in messages.
  • See the list of people who saw the message.
  1. Tap Chat > My Chats.
  2. Search for and tap the group. The chat window opens.
  3. To join the chat of a group you are not a member of:
    1. Tap Join Group Chat.
    2. Search for the group and tap Join.
    3. Tap My Chats to see the group.
  4. Write and send your message.
  1. From the Join Group panel (to the right), select a group. The message window opens showing the most recent messages in the chat.
  2. To join the chat of a group you are not a member of:
    1. Click Join Group.
    2. Search the group list and click Join. The group is added to the panel.
  3. Write and send your message. You can reply to a message and delete a message you sent.

Groups have settings you can manage including muting and unmuting a group, exiting (leaving) a group, and seeing who else is a member of the group.

  1. Open a Chat or Feed group.
  2. Tap Information and select one of the following options, depending on the type of group:
    • Chat group: Member List, Clear Chat, Mute/Unmute, Exit.
    • Feed group: Member List, Attachments, Mute/Unmute, Exit.
  1. Click the Groups tab.
  2. Open a Chat or Feed group.
  3. Click the gear menu and select one of the following options, depending on the type of group:
    • Chat group: Current members, Clear Chat, Mute/Unmute Chat, Maximize, Exit group.
    • Feed group: Current members, Mute/Unmute, Exit group.
