Schedule batch events

Use the Event Manager to schedule batch events.

  1. To consolidate labor correctly:
    1. Select Administration > Application Setup > System Configuration > System Settings > Batch Service tab.
    2. Configure the parameters:

      • site.BatchService.numberOfCPU

        Enter 1.

        If you enter 0, no events run.

      • site.BatchService.maximumUtilizationPercentage

        Enter 100 to run events at night when no other processes run on the server.

        If other processes run at the same time, for example, change the setting to 50.

  2. Select Administration > Application Setup> Common Setup > Batch Processing > Batch Events tab.
  3. Select the batch event and click Schedule. Event Manager opens.
  4. For notification when the event runs, in Event Output do one of the following:
    • Select a Printer.
    • Select Email. Enter an email address.
  5. In Event Schedule, do the following:
    1. Schedule Type — Frequency to run the batch event. Select Monthly, Weekly, Daily, Hourly, Once, or Now.
    2. Note: If you select Monthly or Weekly, additional fields display so you can define more detailed information.
    3. Start Date, Start Time, End Date, and End Time — Duration of the batch event schedule. Select Forever to run the batch event indefinitely.
  6. Click Save.

The Batch Job List provides a list of all scheduled batch jobs.

Tip: To configure servers to share batch processing, select Administration > Application Setup > System Settings > Batch Processing tab.

Predefined tasks

Predefined tasks that can be scheduled on the Event Manager:

  • Labor Budget Import — Provides budget numbers by department
  • Shift Building Result Cleanup — Provides information if the Shift Builder fails to build shift patterns

    Shift Builder results

    The Shift Builder batch event creates schedules into the future for employees who are assigned shift patterns. It is a default system event that is scheduled to run once a week, with no end date. Only the system administrator has access rights to this event (default).

    Shift Builder Results display errors encountered by the shift builder:

    • Accrual validation error — The system did not generate a paycode because accrual validation failed. For example, the employee does not have enough accrual balance, or the amount is invalid.

    To change the sort order, click a column header.

    • Launched by — The name of the user who launched the shift builder event
    • Launch Date/Time — Date and time the shift builder event was launched
    • Employee Name — The employee whose schedule is in error
    • Date — The date in the schedule on which the error occurred
    • Message — Error message
    • Pattern ID — The ID of the pattern associated with the error
    • Pattern Created by — The name of the user who applied the pattern to the employee

    Refining the display

    Use Search to limit the display by employee name or the username of the person who created the pattern.

    1. Enter an Employee Name or Pattern Created by name.
    2. Click Search.
